52 on Fridays | Mother Earth

In case you're new to my blog, this year I am participating in a project this year with 17 other photographers from all over the world. Each week we have a theme to interpret and shoot. It is a great exercise in creativity, and gets us out there shooting personal work when we might otherwise be too be to do so. This week's theme is Mother Earth in honor of Earth Day. Right now the mango tree at my husband's parents' house is loaded with ripening fruit. Every year we all have more mangoes than we know what to do with, and they are amazing. I love seeing the bounty of the earth in its real form- first hand from my garden or my mother-in-law's backyard, rather than from the grocery store. Watching actual food come from a seed or the blooms of a tree never ceases to amaze me, and that is something I want to pass on to my son.

Next go take a look at how Krista Keller | Bay Area Photographer interpreted the theme...
